Hey-o, Word-wielders,
How many of you still have your first story? I do, kind of, unless my mom tossed it. It's a short piece (not really a story) I wrote around six or so, about the dog we had at the time, Jack, and it still brings me to tears of awe every time I read it.
Not really. Fortunately, I have vastly improved since that day. But, I'll share some things from along the way.

- The first story I started outside of school was about a girl and her horse, illustrated by yours truly. It was titled "A Pretty Horse" because I didn't know how to spell "beautiful."
- Lily used to be my favorite name, and I have used it in at least three pieces, probably more. Usually it was spelled like the above, but for the novel I drafted in 2022-2023, I spelled it Lilli.
- In Daughters of Irin, I considered having a single chapter from Galt's perspective, showing him running for Quarralia.
- Some of the most unusual names (that I did not make up) I have ever used in pieces I started are as follows:
Eirian
Quarralia
Brites (short for Bridgit)
Niamh (pronounced "Neev"
Amaury
- I have only written one long project with a male perspective, and that was a dual-POV novel draft that I never edited. His name was Kyran Pericles Hood, and he had a little dog named Darta.
- When I was younger, me and a childhood friend wrote and illustrated a story titled "The Wacky Schoolbus." It was about a teacher and her students and the schoolbus and the adventure they went on, and it DEFINITLY was NOT inspired by a similarly titled series. Totally not.
- When I was fourteen, I entered a story contest, but never got any results. Turned out the contest was dated, and not running at that time. Read your dates, peeps.
- However, when I was fifteen, I entered a poetry contest, and came out in the top 30 out of over 500 entries. That poem was The Valley of the Poet and it is still a beloved poem to me.
And there's some facts about my writing life. What's some things that happened along your writing path? Let me know down in the comments.
May you live for Christ and give Him praise!
~Claira
