Hey-o, Word-wielders,
It's another poetry spotlight blog post, this time a piece in free verse by Chloe. (Free verse, for those who may be squinting in confusion, is a style of poetry that doesn't stick to a set meter or rhyme scheme) Enjoy this poem, and maybe you'll be inspired to write your own.
tears.
and the older i get
the easier it is to cry.
once i was strong in my own eyes;
now a single snowflake can draw tears with its soft touch on my cheek
like God's own finger reaching down to wipe my sorrow away.
but when we have been given a world
so beautiful as this
would it not be almost a sin
not to let it bring tears to our eyes
as, perhaps, it is meant to?
when we have a God
who gave Himself to save
and stooped to create a world and the light and the joy and the love and the laughter and yes, the tears
he put into it
i cannot help but stand in awe, and sometimes
i let the tears come.
