Hey-o, Word-wielders,
How many of you have been interviewed? Maybe for a job, radio, or the newspaper. (I actually was featured in a newspaper when I self-published my poetry collection The Valley of the Poet. You can check out that interview here.) As authors, some of us do character interviews, and that is exactly what I'll be posting in this blog post.
Today, I am going to be interviewing my protagonist Honor, from my WIP My Only Name is Honor. Honor is an orphan living with her makeshift family in Siana Kingdom when the book begins, and she isn't all that she appears.
Me: Hello, Honor, it's great to finally meet you.
Honor: Hello to you. But how did you get on the Aveline?
Me: That's not important. I see you're all alone. Penny for your thoughts?
Honor: Penny?
Me: Oh, yeah, it's a copper coin.
Honor: Oh, um, I . . . I was thinking about my adoptive brother, Fin. I could really use him right now.
Me: Why Fin? Why not Thatcher?
Honor: *smiles a little* Thatcher's too serious. I need Fin and his antics. He wouldn't take a snarling bear seriously.
Me: It's pretty serious here then.
Honor *sighs* Yes, but I have Brig. She's kinda like Fin, but much sassier.
Me: What about the others. I see Amaury cut the ropes on your wrists.
Honor: Yes, he did. He scares me sometimes, though. He's always either mad or annoyed.
Me: How do you think he'll do as king someday?
Honor: *shivers* From what I've seen so far, he'll be a tyrant. But did he get this way? How can King Tiernan just let him be like this?
Me: You know, Amaury's been through a lot too. Did you know his mother died? Queen Aveline.
Honor: Oh, I think maybe I've heard that before. That must be who he named his boat after.
Me: See, somewhere, under those crossed arms and shaggy hair that lad's got a heart.
Honor: But what will it take for a person to see it?
Me: What will it take for a person to see your heart, Honor?
Honor: I . . . I think . . . please excuse me.
What did you think of this interview? Stay tuned for the next three parts: Brig, Tobias, and Amaury.
May you live for Christ and give Him praise!
~Claira
