Hey-o, Word-wielders,
Today is the day for the interview with a character I am having fun writing. Brigid (aka Brig) the fire-headed, talkative kitchen maid Honor becomes friends with during her time in Emberlyn Castle. Brig extraverted personality, fiery temper, and grins hide a broken past and a deep hurt. Ready to dive in to her interview? Let's go!
Me: Hello, Brig, what're you cooking?
Brig: Food, what else does a person cook?
Me: Haha. What kind of food?
Brig: It's a special stew my mam taught me. Beef and onions and garlic and spices. Very aromatic. It just needs a touch more salt. *Reaches for salt.*
Me: Did your mam teach you all you know about cooking?
Brig: Nope. I learned a lot working at Emberlyn, and my skill would be obvious to King Tiernan, if somebody would give me a chance to do something besides chop vegetables!
Me: Mary?
Brig: I have no idea how you know, but exactly! She's like the cloud of doom wanting to take over the world!
Me: That's harsh.
Brig: But it's true.
Me: You know, just because it's true doesn't mean you have to say it.
Brig *huffs and crosses her arms* I know, I think my mouth rides a bucking mule, and it runs away on me.
Me: Hasn't Honor talked with you about that?
Brig: Yeah. That girl is something else. She's as calm as Tobias, but smiles more.
Me: Do you know why she's like that. You know she was captured, right?
Brig: Of course I know that! I'm the one who found her sneaking around Emberlyn her first night there. And yes, she told me how she's like that, but it seems unattainable for someone like me. I'm too sour to sweeten a cake.
Me: But the caterpillar cannot fly until its transformed.
Brig: Now you sound like Honor! All these people with the tongues of skalds!
Me: But can you see the truth in it? God made the caterpillar into a butterfly; he can change your heart too.
Brig: I think I'm too far gone for that. *turns back to her pot.*
