Hey-o, Word-wielders,
Maybe you're stalking a writer's site looking for a gift for your author friend, maybe you are that very writer compiling a birthday list and looking for ideas, or maybe, like me, you enjoy looking at writery gifts. Today, that is what you will find. From new-age typewriter/computers to shirts with writer sayings, here are 7 gifts for writers.
(Please note I do not know the quality of all items. Check reviews before buying something. It's smart.)
1. Freewrites
Do you like the ease of typing but not the glare on your eyes and the fact that you are spending hours on a screen? Or do you not want to tote your laptop everywhere you go? Freewrites might be the tool for you. They're like a typewriter for the 21-century writer, and while they're not as aesthetic as the real thing, they could be your favorite tool in your writing arsenal.
2. Writer T-Shirts
Tell the world you're a writer. Check out these fun shirts.
3. Kobo or Kindle Gift Card
If they're a writer, they're probably a reader. If they've got a Kindle or Kobo eReader, a gift card for them is like buying a book, without getting them one they won't like.
4. Kobo or Kobo eReader Sleep Cover
A sleepcover for eReaders is a useful, protective, and looks good. Make sure when you buy one you know exactly which type of eReader you're buying it for. A Kobo Clara (I know, Kobo Clara!) and Kobo Libra aren't going to be the same size.
5. Structuring Your Novel by K. M. Weiland
A great tool for learning how to structure your novel. From the big picture down to sentence structure. I own a Kobo eBook version of the original edition, but as of 2024 there is a revised and expanded book, which I have not read. There is also a workbook, which is probably useful. (I don't own the workbook.)
6. Novel Journals
Many writers have opened a present to find a notebook or journal, but have they ever received a novel journal? With tiny rows of text instead of notebook lines, these notebooks stand out for their uniqueness. I was actually gifted one of these as a graduation present. (I have Aesop's Fables)
7. Mouse Pad for Writers
Give the writer in your life something to smile about when they use their mouse, whether for typing or checking email.
And that's 7 gifts for writers. What gifts do you recommend for the word-wielders in your life? Let me know down in the comments below.
May you live for Christ and give Him praise!
~Claira
